Randomly found this place while wandering around Taman Sari - and I'm very glad I did. The selection isn't overly big but I loved what I tried. The special nasi with fruit was delicious, a mix of sweet and spicy. The sultan tea was also great. There's also a selection of fruit juices, lassis, and hot drinks. An excellent place to relax and take a break from walking. The owner was very kind and welcoming. I really enjoyed the ambience. It was calm and cool but right off the back alley so it was a little lively as well. A real neighborhood feel to it. I'd definitely come back again!

The restaurant's decor was unique and as intimate as could be! Tons of knick knacks. The menu was plain, juices and either a rice or noodle dish. I got mie goreng with chicken and a pineapple juice. The juice was great, but the meal was underwhelming and the veggies were not cooked through. Presentation was wonderful though!

Very wonderful place with tranquility. The sound of splash water, the beauty of its ancient architecture, and its wonderful view make Taman Sari becomes very enchanting. Its alleys and buildings make Taman Sari has many secrets to reveal. Tickets for admission are very cheap, but not recommended to come here if the weather is very hot, because it will easily dehydrated.Traveler

Authentic Artsy RestaurantI've never given a 5 star review before, but this place deserves it. The food is authentic and inexpensive. The restaurant is a family run business and the ambiance is so peaceful. Art on every wall, from the "Alice in wonderland" experience when you step in the bathroom (you really need to experience it to know what I'm talking about) to the beautifully presented food. One of my favourite memories of the trip!

Water Castle Cafe is the perfect hole-in-the-wall cafe if you’re looking for delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere. The cafe is situated on the edge of a maze of local houses, so it’s the perfect place to be if you want to explore after enjoying a meal. The cafe seats around 12 so it’s not overly crowded.The prices are mid ranged but the food is most certainly worth it. I had the Mie Kuah Vegetables while my partner had the Nasi Campur. Mie Kuah comprised of: broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, star fruit, noodles and onion swimming in a fragrant vegetable broth. It packed tonnes of flavour and little spice. Nasi Campur contained similar vegetables but was quite spicy - be warned if you can’t handle your heat.

Very nice cafe

Accidently bump to this place. So surprise that it's only 2 meters away from pasar Ngasem, and I never knew this place exist. Really a good place to enjoy conversation with friends and family. Delicious meals and drinks, and provide vegetarian menu. Yet, they have good vibes of old javanese house. You should see the toilet, you'll be surprised, hehe. I've tried the fried noodle, and it's nice. Hehe.

They have limited dishes on the menu. But trust me, all of them taste really good and very well-homemade. Ive brought my guests to eat here so many times and none of them leaving with sad face after eating here. For those who dont eat meat, no need to worry. They have vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The price aswell is considered really cheap for such a delicious food. Definitely recommend this place for locals and foreigners. The vibe gives you feeling like youre eating at your friend's house 😁

Owner Kompi has lots of Tips, especially regarding art/batik/history etc. - fresh fruit juices, try the juice sirsak! - special atmosphere. Great place to refresh after visiting the water palace. He has small choice of hand crafted batiks for sale.

A humble, local, small cafe. They don't have much on their menu but it's still a good place to hang around or have meals. Their staff are very friendly. The place is decorated nicely and aesthetically with a lot of traditional attributes and local paintings. And it's really quite cause they are not near the main streets.

Good choice if you have low budget and want to eat close to the Water Temple. The place is very comfy and the Nasi Goreng with vegetables is pretty good. Food portions are generous.

Cozy and comfort place for tourism to stay for grabbing some meals and baverages. The meals are great and delicious. The place is near by water castle place and also suitable for go alone and group. Very artistic design cafe where there are many arts and photos and unique woods. The owner also nice and friendly but they just open until late afternoon around at 5 or 7 pm.

known as Taman Sari too, i visited taman sari in 2017, its recommended for a historical vacation site, i only paid about 2500 rupiahs for one ticket, i think. there s a toilets here, food stalls inside, and i suggest you to visit Taman sari between 8-10am.
